Jobs; How can you help out your crew? Empty Jobs; How can you help out your crew?

The Job System is sort of brought from a previous One Piece RPG that I had; King of the Pirates. The idea is that every member of a pirate crew has something to offer to it; whether it's a great fighter or swordsman like Luffy or Zoro, or a good chef like Sanji, every member of a pirate crew is valuable and important. Each Job has a rank, signifying how well your character is at those certain skills within a job. From weakest to strongest, there's Novice, Beginner, Intermediate, Genius, and Master. Each Job has different way to go up in a rank. Mentioned below are "Rank Numbers", basically, with Novice being 1, every rank after that add one and that's your rank number. For example, Beginner is 2, and Intermediate is 3.

There are plenty of different kind of jobs, listed below. These are examples, however. We want members to come up with their own ideas for interesting jobs.

Fighting-based Jobs

Name: Fighter
Description: You've got the great instincts and skills of a great fighter; whether you've got a sword, a scythe, a rock, or simply your own two fists you can use it to battle. The problem is is that you really don't particularly excel in any of the weapons you use.
Skills:
  • Great fighting instincts and pretty much a natural fighter.
  • Can pretty much use any weapon, but cannot excel in any.
  • Basic idea of tactics.

Ranking Up: Find your rank number. Multiply that number by ten and each post you're fighting or training, and you meet that number with the number of posts, you rank up.
For example, Luffy had a thread that lasts for 20 posts and for 10, he fights. Luffy is a Novice and he becomes a Beginner.

Name: Swordsman
Description: You're a warrior of the blade, you grew up training using swords, and it doesn't matter if it's half a blade or seventeen, you can find a way to use them.
Skills:
  • Good with bladed weaponry, like swords, knives, daggers, blades, etc.
  • Naturally quick with weapons.
  • Has a basic grasp of tactics.

Ranking Up: Find your rank number. Multiply that number by ten and each post you're fighting or training, and you meet that number with the number of posts, you rank up.
For example, Zoro had a thread that lasts for 20 posts and for 10, he fights. Zoro is a Novice and he becomes a Beginner.

Name: Marksman
Description: You're great at firing shots; you're good at shooting things and you usually get great shots at whatever you shoot.
Skills:
  • Good with guns, slingshots, etc.
  • Marksmen are usually slow, but very accurate.
  • Intermediate grasp of tactics.

Ranking Up: Find your rank number. Multiply that number by ten and each post you fire a "shot" counts as a "shot point". That number multiplied by 10 is your maximum shot points, and when you hit that number, you get a rank up.

Skill-based Jobs

Name: Chef
Description: The Chef is the guy who prepares the meals and in some cases, tries to use the food to it's best ability, and create good enough rations to last weeks before they can resupply.
Skills:
  • Has the ability to cook food well.
  • Has the ability to ration food well.
  • Can use certain weapons exceptionally (kitchen knives, knives, cleavers and frying pans. Yes, a frying pan is a weapon.)

Ranking Up: Each time a Chef creates a meal, depending upon it's description in the post, it's given a certain amount of points by a mod or an admin. Multiply the previous system used for fighting-based jobs by 10, (1 for Novice, etc.) and when you reach that number, you gain a rank.

Name: Tactician
Description: A tactician is usually a behind-the-scenes kind of guy, usually not doing the actual fighting, but preferring to order others, though has a basic idea of how to fight if the occasion arrives.
Skills:
  • Very good with tactics.
  • Basic idea of fighting.
  • Can create basic inventions to help with tactics.

Ranking Up: Each time your character comes up with a tactical plan for a battle, whether it be on sea or land you get a certain amount tactical points. If it works, you get two, but if it fails, you get one. Find your rank number. That number multiplied by five is the max tactical points. When you hit that amount of points, you go up a rank.

Name: Inventor
Description: Inventors are artists, and dreamers who think of different ideas. They also have a technical knowledge of a lot of machinery to bring their dreams to life.
Skills:
[list][*] Good at creating items.
[*] Good at repairing items.
[*] Has a basic idea of how weaponry work in battle.
Ranking Up: There are two types of inventions; complex and simple. Complex is something like an assembly line, while simple is something like a shovel. Basically, you get a certain amount of "inventor points", which act as an inventor's knowledge. You can get 1-4 points for a simple invention and 5-9 points for a complex invention. Now, find your rank number, and multiply it by 10. When your character hits that number, it goes up a rank.

Clean Job Template
Code:
[b]Name:[/b]
[b]Description:[/b]
[b]Skills:[/b]
[list][*]
[*]
[*]
[b]Ranking Up:[/b]

Note: Per job, you can only have a maximum of 3 skills related to it. And please, make Ranking Up relatively challenging, or else we'll see a load of master swordsmen around.

Also; if we get problems with custom classes, I'll eventually put up a guide on how to create them. Maybe.

I'll probably eventually do that anyway.

Multi-Jobbing

Multi-Jobbing is a simple idea; basically, you learn from another crew member about another job and then you take that job up alongside your regular job. There are other ways to multi-job, hell, you could start with a multi-jobbing character. Learning from a book or learning about a job from someone in the past are acceptable ways to learn to multi-job. Basically, here's an example; say Nami wants to learn to be an Inventor. Then she must talk and train under Ussop to even start as a Novice in the Inventor job. From then on, Nami can work as inventor and advance as normal.

You can only have a maximum of 3 different jobs. No exceptions.
